Diakonia is looking for a Deputy Regional Director in Asia. We offer you an exciting job in an international environment where you, together with our talented employees and partner organizations, will change the world!

Role & responsibilities:
As a member of the Regional management team, the Deputy Regional Director Asia plays an important role in advancing the organization’s mission by providing strategic support. Key areas of work are the strategic direction and capacity building of the Diakonia Asia programs and resource mobilization for the region. Other responsibilities will be:
• To assist the Regional Director on the basis of established guidelines, policy, strategy planning, budget and other steering documents and to take on the role of being acting Regional Manager when necessary
• To develop methods for strategic planning and program development, including monitoring, reporting and evaluation
• To coordinate and serve as a link between Diakonia at HQ and the Region on designated areas and processes
• To develop and maintain contacts with relevant stakeholders such as back donors, networks and like-minded organisations

Experience & qualifications:
• Experience from international development cooperation preferably in and with NGOs/INGOs
• Experience in social and political analysis, preferably from Asia and particularly in the areas of Democracy, Human Rights and Gender.
• Experience in donor relations and resource mobilization
• University degree in relevant area
• Very good planning, organizing, reporting and writing skills in English and Swedish
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills

This is a plus:
• Experience in Rights Based Approaches
• Training in and experience of Humanitarian interventions
• Experience from managerial position with good skills in leadership and interpersonal, cultural, training and facilitation
• Knowledge of Diakonia and the founding churches

Employment type: Two-year contract with possible extension
